David Scott Lewis has left an indelible mark on the field of artificial intelligence. With nearly five decades of experience David’s journey in the technology world has been nothing short of remarkable. He has published 20+ AI Academic papers accepted by the world’s major AI Conferences (Neurips,  AAAI, Stanford AI4Science, EURIPS ELLIS Molecules Discovery, IEEE  etc) and he has held executive positions at industry giants like Microsoft, Samsung, Oracle, the META Group (Gartner group) and China’s two largest U.S.-focused IT outsourcing firms.

David is also known as the real-life person on whom the 1985 film ‘War Games’ is based.

5 decades at the forefront of the AI revolution

David’s experience and expertise in the world of technology has been recognized on numerous occasions. His first passion was cybersecurity, which brought him notoriety, especially because of the film ‘War Games.’ Even today, he is interviewed about that period: What keeps ‘WarGames’ hacker, David Scott Lewis up at night?

Regarding his experience in Artificial Intelligence, even in 1992, Mark Kantrowitz mentioned him in the AI-FAQ Carnegie Mellon University as the founder of HOTT (at that time, the most widely distributed electronic newsletter), which summarized the latest developments in computing, communications and electronic technologies. With the advent of the new millennium, David’s influence spread to the pages of The New York Times where he contributed his expertise on behalf of IBM and TWINE one of the most successful AI companies of 2008. He was at the forefront of critical debates, including chairing a seminal discourse on the semantic web, a paradigm that has since had a profound impact on modern marvels such as ChatGPT.

He was one of the founding members of the Caltech MIT Enterprise forum to help high-tech companies. David was also President and CEO of Presence Information Design, one of the top 10 web integration systems in the world at the time. He worked with Movie Studios, contributing to projects such as the game Dune, and with Sun Microsystems as one of the key Java developers. He also created one of the first virtual reality sites on the Internet. In 2018, David Scott Lewis stood alongside top experts from the world of AI.

In 2018, David stood alongside prominent figures of the AI world  from prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Adobe, a former Duke AI director who now runs an AI lab at CMU, the AI director of a US intelligence community research department, and a senior AI researcher and visionary at OpenAI, the architects behind ChatGPT. David’s legacy as an AI visionary and technology expert continues to shape the industry, making him a distinguished figure in the world of artificial intelligence advising pioneering AI companies such as and Symbolics.
